What Everybody Ought To Know About Anti Wrinkle Treatment

By Jane Villardo

Anti wrinkle treatment is something that we would all like to undergo. This is because we live in a society that worships youth and everyone strives to look young for the longest time possible. The eradication of the signs of aging such as wrinkles is now possible with the advances achieved by science. Let's explore some of the ways that can help hold off wrinkles.

Tightening and smoothing the skin through laser resurfacing is one of the ways to reduce wrinkles. This anti wrinkle treatment involves using laser to restructure the skin. CO2 laser was used in the first complete resurfacing. Nowadays, the method of choice is the fractional laser method. In this method, laser delivered in tiny pinpoints to only a fraction of the area to be treated leaves healthy tissue in between ablated areas for faster healing and reduced risk.

Dermabrasion is primarily used in the removal of scars but it can also be an anti wrinkle treatment. In this procedure, abrasion removes the outer surface of the skin. The skin then regenerates and the new surface will be smoother and younger-looking. Dermabrasion is extremely painful and requires anesthetization. It can also take the skin several months after dermabrasion to heal and regenerate.

Vitamin A derivatives tretinoin and retinol (also called retinoids), primarily used for treating acne vulgaris and keratosis pilaris, are also anti wrinkle treatment options. These encourage the renewal of skin cells and increase the collagen production of the skin, resulting in a more youthful appearance. When under retinoid treatment, exposure to the sun should be avoided because of the increased susceptibility to sunburn. Hair removal by waxing should also be avoided because retinoids may cause thinning of the skin and waxing could remove the top layer of the skin along with hair.

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), beta hydroxy acids (BHA), salicylic acid, lactic acid, trichloroacetic acid, and phenol are also used to improve the texture of the skin. This kind of anti wrinkle treatment is called chemical peel. One or a suitable combination of the chemicals is applied to the skin to cause it to blister and peel off. The skin will then regenerate and the new outer layer of skin will have less wrinkles.

Procedures such as face lifts and facial implants are surgical anti wrinkle treatment options. Face lifts, also known by the medical term rhytidectomy, involves removing excess facial skin. The remaining skin is then re-draped over the face and neck. In facial implants, fat taken from another part of the body or an artificial substance is deposited under wrinkled skin to plump it up.

Collagen and hyaluronic acid (commercially available under the trade name Restylane) are cosmetic subdermal fillers that can be injected to fill out the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. These are derived from substances that are naturally produced in the body and thus have little or no adverse effects. Botox (botulinum toxin type A), which inhibits motion in the muscles that cause wrinkles, is another injectable cosmetic anti wrinkle treatment.

There are many anti wrinkle treatment methods available. With the abundance of remedies that exist, at least one is suitable for each individual. Choose the one that is right for you.
