Day Spas

Day spas are facilities purely dedicated to the rejuvenation and relaxation of ones body, mind and soul. Day spas have several service packages for individuals or groups packages designed to maintain the bodys health and wellness. Day spa services are not medical solutions, although treatments like a massage can mostly be applied for medical purposes.

Medical spas are facilities of a different kind that offers more than the usual spa services, they also offer medical treatments like Botox injections, spider vein surgery, and pain management. When you say medical spa, this means that a medical doctor is present to perform medical solutions mentioned above. There is a large range of specialized doctors in different types who may be medical directors, including: Doctors of Internal Medicine and Dermatologists. Thats why its very important to know the exact background and training of the doctor as it is directly related to the exact procedure that you are most interested in.

What to Look for in a Day Spa

The selection of a day spa must be based on the individual. Some spas are specially designed to give relaxing treatments that caters one's need. For instance, one day spa is providing services towards servicing facial treatments and makeovers, while the other is more focused in tension or stress relief with the use of body treatments and special massages. Finally, other spas have medical doctors to perform extra complicated treatments like the injectable Botox or cosmetic procedures like the spider vein therapy.

Day Spa Services

The facilities that are provided makes it different from other spas services. It depends on the size of the spa, location, and cost. Therapeutic variances serves as unique feature of that certain spa. However, theres a good number of regular day spa services offered at most facilities:

* Massage * Facials * Body treatments * Waxing * Skin exfoliation

Facials treatments are cosmetic procedures that are commonly used to improve the faces skin. Facials are designed to act as a deep cleansing therapy where the skin is treated through toning, massaging, steaming, exfoliating and moisturizing.

A massage is a very popular service that is related with day spas. Massages involves the application of different physical means wherein the soft tissues of the body are given pressure or manipulated for pure relaxation and healing.

Waxing is also one type of day spa treatment in which the body hair is removed from the root of the skin. A little amount of hot wax mixture is applied to the area of the body that needs hair removal. A cloth or paper like material is then placed using pressure on top of the wax mixture and suddenly removed in a pulling motion. This treatment may hurt a little but gives you great results. The selected area will be smooth and clean from dead skin cells. However, waxing is just a temporary solution for hair growth. It regularly takes 3 to 8 week for the hair to grow back.

Body Treatments are not considered medical procedures, it is offered by hundreds of day spas around the world. Some of the popular and commonly requested body treatments at spas are mud baths, body wraps, saunas, hot tubs, and aromatherapy.

Skin Exfoliation is one of the non-medical health treatment. It is made to remove dead skin cells from the face and bodys skin. This procedure eliminates dead skin cells which can leave the skin smooth and looking healthy. Micro-bead face scrubs and abrasive cloths are used commonly for exfoliating purposes. Chemical peels in the other hand gives a more intensive solution to the dead skins treatment. Bad cases of skin exfoliation may need more implementation like microdermabrasion and dermabrasion, this step of removing the dead skin cells requires sanding.
