Have You Seen These Symptoms of Chemical Skin Care Damage?

By Jemma Rivera

Chemical skin care products are really not as safe as they should be. For instance, isopropyl alcohol is an extremely drying and irritating solvent that is found in many cosmetics and skin care products. Unfortunately, what it accomplishes is to dry your skin and do away with its natural acid mantle. This in turn makes your skin highly susceptible to viruses, molds and bacteria. Anything made from propylene will have been derived from petroleum and thus may encourage the premature aging of your skin and even bring forth brown spots.

Propylene products are petroleum derivatives and can encourage discoloring and aging of the skin. Many skin treatments also have dyes and colorants among their list of ingredients. C, D and F are dyes that have been extracted from coal tar. These create irritation of the skin and exacerbate the issues for those with sensitive skin problems.

Mineral oil is another often used ingredient in many skin care formulas. This is another petroleum related product, and it clogs the pores of the skin and keeps it from breathing. When mineral oil is applied to the surface of the skin it stops the elimination of cellular wastes and starves the cells of oxygen. This will spur the development of many unwanted skin conditions, including zits and acne. As a result new cell growth is hampered and this can lead to wrinkles and other premature aging signs.

Further, it slows down cell development, as well as skin function and unfortunately also causes premature aging. The use of petrolatum, another product of mineral oil, grows steadily in skin products because it is easy to make and also incredibly cheap.

It would be helpful if we could all have some specialized skin care training because then we would know how to address different concerns. If we were all skin doctors we might realize how damaging sun and improper skin care really are. People who bask in the sun and lay in the tanning beds generally have thick, leathery skin that appears to be aging quickly. Doctors are seeing more dermatology problems like wrinkles, skin cancers and premature aging every day. In most cases these are the result of skin exposure and poor skin care.

Of course you need to use skin care products to protect and nurture your skin, but many of these formulas are worsening your problems. Many of the creams and lotions contain chemicals that are damaging and are promoting the development of wrinkles, discolorations, age spots, fine lines and blemishes. You need to be careful and make sure that you are providing your skin with quality care not creating more issues in the process.

Look at the package labels and make sure that the ingredients listed are really natural, organic substances. Today there are some wonderful skin care products available that are created without harsh chemicals and other toxins. You can let your voice be heard by supporting these types of products and the companies that produce them. Refusing to buy and use dangerous skin care formulas is the best way to express your displeasure.

It cannot be emphasized too much that we need to replace our uses of toxic skin products, and instead use 100% pure and natural products, especially when it concerns our skin care products. These will contain essential oils, herbs and completely natural ingredients that actually will not only save our skin from premature aging, but will also keep us away from all the skin disorders that Doctors and dermatologists are seeing more and more of.
