Settings are the starting point in designing your own wedding rings. From the setting you can then add your own diamond in the size, shape and cut that you prefer. With this option you can avoid having a ring that is the same as the other in the retail stores, but still not requiring a full custom design.

In some cases you may wish to include a bigger diamond or a different type of band or setting to a style of wedding rings that you already like. This custom design option allows for this to occur, often while keeping the cost of the ring well within your budget. Changing different diamonds and different bands from simple to more elaborate can also help you visualize which diamond shape is best suited to the different settings.

With these semi-custom design wedding rings the first step is to choose a setting and band. It is important, however to have a general idea of what shape and cut of diamond you want in the ring to ensure the appropriate match.

With the all custom design wedding rings there is a great selection of both wedding bands as well as settings. These can rang from very detailed and intricate to elegant and classic. Some bands, such as contour bands, actually add shape to the ring and can enhance the appearance of even a smaller diamond, which may be an important consideration.

The diamond or diamonds will be held to the band of the wedding rings with a setting. Each setting is designed to hold a specific type or shape of diamond. In most cases prongs or mountings will hold the diamond into the setting. The larger the diamond the more prongs will be needed to keep the stone secure. For a single diamond is a solitaire type of ring a cathedral setting adds height and security to the diamond.

Not all wedding rings have to have huge central diamonds. Smaller diamonds or diamond chips can also be added to the bands and settings. A very popular option for lots of dazzle and sparkle is the pave style, which provides a surface of diamond chips. This style is a good match with both anniversary rings and the eternity bands that can be add to the wedding ring and engagement ring at a later time.
